After calling these bishops, who received SUVs from the PCSO, to a hearing in the Senate, the bishops were left dumbfounded. They returned the controversial vehicles but the comments from Vic Sotto, Jinggoy Estrada and Miriam Santiago caught them by surprise. Now these esteemed senators were saying that perhaps the bishops should have retained and not returned the vehicles instead. What idiots these senators are! These vehicles were paid for with government money where taxpayers deserved to be served first ahead of the church. As I See it: The Senate is a bunch of actors completely detached from reality. All love to talk and hug the limelight. Members find pleasure in seeing their faces on TV. The Kho-Halili case that this group investigated did not produce any recommendation. Instead they relished listening to salacious testimonies and front-row seats as they watched those sex videos. Re: Bishops & 4X4 SUV...There is this bishop from Butuan -Bishop Pueblos who wrote two letters to the Govt. specifically the PCSO to give him a brand new SUV preferably 4 X4 as a birthday present. This is the same Bishop who said in a press conference that the President should resign.. I don't find anything holy in his behavior.. He behaves like one of those congressmen who received money in brown bags from GMA prior to the elections in 2004. This Bishop Pueblos is one of the reasons why many Filipinos have lost faith in the R Catholic leadership in PH.

It is explicit in the 1987 PH constitution about the separation of church and state, which we all know is about religious freedom without the state enforcing or endorsing a specific religion. My problem with PCSO is giving bishops SUVs which from my point of view is not an act of benevolent neutrality because the ministers of INK, the imams of the Muslim faith, etc. are denied that same treatment. Separation of church & state.. but why a very short senate inquiry. Everything should have been done to render the handling of this particular case in a totally transparent way. The Filipino's level of interest among the many public questions & the main purpose of the inquiry was ignored. Our people's confidence in the judicial system is affected. We thought that it will be done thoroughly, instead, the bishops were treated like innocent victims. Among other things, 2 senators et al donated large amount of money to purchase the vehicles. One of the chronic cultural defect we have as Filipinos is the propensity to not assert what is proper and right, instead would just be content to wither down violations of the law to avoid further challenges and pressures. Whe someone is clearly at fault and should be charged in accordance with the law many would just choose to not press charges. This is the second comment regarding this issue. I want to express my utmost respect to the bishops because of their chosen career- the men of God. However, I stand against the bishop on this particular issue. It does not matter if it is Pajero, Jeep, or tricycle. The vehicle for the bishops is not part of the PCSO pie, and the person (GMA) who approves the transaction is tarnish with various anomalies. The CBCP has made a public statement regarding the issue and apologizing. We are God's people and so the bishops subject to criticism and mistakes. The bishops learned their lessons well. The only commendable thing that made good sense is when they refused the P50,000 donation from Con. Mikey Arroyo. Hail Marie, what's the reason kaya? Bishop Juan por dios Pueblos still demanding that the president resign only shows the influence of GMA, on some members of the church, who directly benefitted big time from her.
