Re: Acquittal of Ben Abalos--Well, well. so what else is new. It took them 9 years and the accused is acquitted. This case the ZTE involves hundreds of millions of pesos. So no one goes to jail.. Did the Justice department or whoever was prosecuting this case did not know what is needed to convict?. Of course they did everything they could do, in the end did justice prevail? My only hope is that the justices in the Sandiganbayan who penned the Decision are not promoted to the Supreme court.. Next acquittals---, the cases of JPE, Jinngoy & Bong Revilla.. They will be acquitted on some fancy legal technicality meanwhile the hundreds of millions of pesos which were supposedly pocketed by these senators won't be returned to the Philippine treasury.

In Davao City and elsewhere, the barracudas or the kahunas (in drug trade, white collar job offenders, officers of the courts, etc.) are not caught in the net but the small fish or fingerlings. Re: President Rodrigo Duterte-- I wasn't for Duterte but next month He'll take his oath as President..Would you believe that he became Mayor of Davao City the same year that Binay became Mayor of Makati. The difference is that the Binay family are all in government as Mayor, Senator and Congressman. Whereas Duterte was elected Pres. His late father was a Governor of Davao. So he knows public service. I don't believe he'll make the mistake of Erap. Erap became distracted when he started his Presidency by getting commissions form the Investment of SSS in a private corporation.

Let me express my disagreement with this guy nevertheless with all my respect. According to
[someone], The DDS ("Davao Development System") is a tool of the govt. of Davao City headed by Duterte for the improvement of peace and order, and progress of the town. If he needs it nationally, so be it. My reaction: If this is true, then we have a government that is subscribing to vigilantes and mercenaries.. If this is so, then we have a government that will not surrender to accountability and that is just common sense... So my question is this, how can we move forward if there is no accountability on the part of the government? Yes we can move with fear in the back of our minds but what if government decides to control this fear to its advantage? Are we to tell ourselves Duterte is not prone to abuse of power?

Someone said, If it works in Davao why not in the entire country? My reaction: In terms of law and order, or fighting crime, perhaps the onus is obvious. He can wield the discipline we need to move on... But when it comes politics and the economy, Davao is way different from Tarlac and Manila.... Duterte says he is a socialist so how will now deal with the Cojuangcos, Benedictos, Florendos and so forth? Just a thought.

Haters of the president elect; get your facts right. Davao used to be a killing field before Duterte came as the mayor. Averaging 20 - 30 deaths a day. When Duterte became the mayor the deaths were remarkably reduced.

Rodrigo himself finished his LLB degree from San Beda College of Law, hence he has the qualification of most of the previous Presidents..Quezon, Manuel Roxas, Carlos Garcia, Diosdado Macapagal were all lawyers not to mention Ferdinand Marcos Up Law class 1939 before they became Presidents they were in Legislative body as
senators or congressmen.
