We fought hard to win that piece of land in the South China Sea, but this administration has no appreciation for that victory nor the appetite to assert our sovereign right.. It wants to share it with China. Vietnam will soon bring its own case to the Hague. How much dumber could we ever be? If it had gotten worse than before, that is some CHANGE!

Rodel Rodis a frequent guest editor of PNL thought that Binay was a Manchurian candidate. Turns out it was RRD from Davao City boy! Chinese nationals are the brains behind the drug business in the Philippines. They operate with impunity and blessed with immunity. Have you ever heard of any Chinese nabbed in a drug raid killed? Have you ever heard of any administration offering sharing of resources in Scarborough Shoal with China after winning the arbitration ruling in the Hague? Ngayon lang po!

It is but right to praise Justice Carpio and former For. Affairs Sec. del Rosario, but how about PNoy? I believe he is the principal mover of this brave stance against the bluff and bullying of China. Without PNoy's initiative and patriotism we would not have won this David vs Goliath world event. The Aquinos are true trailblazers. Cory Aquino headed the "Peaceful Revolution against an entrenched corrupt dictator never witnessed before in the world. Now comes his son humiliating the behemoth China.

First of all, We have to give credit to whom credit is due and that is to President Aquino for his vision to bring the matter to the United Nations. It was the best strategy and because of his action, we were able to polarize the world majority to the Philippine side, putting China on the spot. President Aquino is not a perfect President, but he did greatly on this issue. PNOY was also right about the futility of negotiations... Just how can we arrive with a solution on the partition of these lands? Is it 50/50 even with the World recognizing the Philippines as the true owners of the land? So negotiations with the Chinese Government, an entity that is channeling its diplomacy through the barrel of the gun, is really impossible UNLESS! We gain their respect... or they deal with another country in our place, of whom they respect... and that is the United States. In my opinion, Duterte giving up the Spratleys for a few railways is mother-effing treason. He has no right to do that without consulting the Filipino people. It's time Duterte governs the country like a President and not like a thuggish mayor.

Someone said that "we have a stupid government because we have stupid voters." But who is more stupid: the government or the voters? 16.6 millions voters went for Digong. We won our case versus China but this government wants to share the resources of Scarborough Shoal with a voracious eater (China). That is Stupidity! Dumber than dumb.

Even before the ruling from the Hague was announced, the world had been given the hint that the ruling was in our favor, yet the new secretary of DFA (Yasay, his name was) said that the Philippine will share resources with China on Scarborough Shoal. After it was formally announced , a couple of our brave nationalists went to the disputed island but they were driven back by China's coast guard. This government of Duterte should have been assertive enough to express our sovereign right. We fought decently and diplomatically but the prize from that victory seemed trivial or meaningless judging by the response and reaction from this government of ours. Vietnam will challenge China on the Paracels. If she wins, she will not capitulate nor appease China by sharing resources like us. WE LOOK LIKE WIMPS.

There is the lack of courage on the part of this administration to defend the country's sovereign rights. We won our case against China yet we are appeasing them. We even suggested sharing resources in Scarborough Shoal in complete disregard of the China's voracious appetite for natural resources. We have become a dumber nation consumed by drugs instead of being smarter and wiser. I think that is the consequence of poor choice of cabinet members in advising a president whose only strength is being a crime buster, enforcer and punisher; nothing more beyond that!

The UN Hague Decision. I watched fishermen who actually go there near the Scarborough shoal area that they are waiting for the UN Decision.. Well. The Hague has released their decision, notwithstanding the angry explanation of China that they won't respect the Decision, it seems that they have to, because many countries are paying attention to this development. China can't just behave like a bully. Our Fishermen should be going back there to that Scarborough shoal area and start fishing!

Let's examine how China behaves, this way we can find the ways to deal with her accordingly. She pushes her way all over the place and negotiates only in the manner she wants which is private or bilateral without regard or concern to international interests and implications... She does this because she knows she doesn't have a fighting chance in the international courts.. so she has to be sleek about the matter. The second thing that is disturbing about China is that she uses her muscles to gain political leverages.. and she uses this while it chooses what diplomatic channels to use. She clearly uses its military might in recognizing or not recognizing international bodies and resolutions. Therefore, this means China is willing to become a rogue country and that is just a fact that we have to face.... So I have to wonder therefore, What then is the use of negotiations when they will not listen? Indeed Mao Zedong once said, Political might comes from the barrel of the gun and this is very true not only as China's dictum but the way world was shaped. The Philippines therefore, must take the idea of military modernization seriously. In the modern times, peace is only preserved through the thorough preparation of war. Only after we are able to establish a descent military force we can enjoy an open minded China... This is the only way a bully will listen and change his mind. The bully here is not the Chinese people but the Chinese government. The Chi-coms.

If we are dealing with a two-faced country like China, we have no choice but to face them the same way. We don't know if they can be trusted, yet we are willing to adhere to peace. The question now is about building our military. We have to build and modernize it to the fullest. That is the only way we can force her to listen to us, and convince her of our SELF-RESPECT! Remember, we have the Benham rise which is a bit close to Taiwan.. While it already recognized by the international community that this is ours... Bullies are bullies and they force their way and will meet no one half way... A Bully will only listen to what it can respect not to reason. The reasons we were bullied by China are very simple.. We were willing to sell ourselves to them (Macapagal), and we seem to relish the idea of remaining weak....

Bilateral talk as needed but based on the recent development as decided by the ICA over the claims of Philippines against China. President Digong Duterte is think is not stupid to put his country at the losing end after this ICA development. Don't judge the brilliance and the strategist on matters where his heart is directed like those stupid personality that projects as if knowledgeable in everything. Digong totally know what he is doing and many people just misread his Public pronouncements.

This win is a big card, a Trump card. If Duterte negotiates with the Chinese acting like the underdog, then he is one incompetent person... We have the upperhand. If Duterte cowers to the Chinese despite of this ruling.. I believe he is not only being coward, he is being a traitor and should be impeached. But if negotiates using the international rule of law as a leverage and fights for the Filipino interest even in the possibility of war, then he should be commended as one leader who fought for an honorable principle despite the odds. Let's all give credit to where it is due, and that is to PNOY. His decision to choose the international arena worked. He war right on track with his vision.

Re: Shooting in Minnesota-- Some cops forget why they stopped the motor vehicle. The motorist was stopped because headlight or taillight was broken. Even if you have a disrespectful motorist there was absolutely no reason to shoot him. So some residents of communities get overwhelmed especially one who had been to Iraq. Violence is preventable if people take a deep breath. Life is short , nasty and Brutish, that's a line from some Philosopher writer.

This incident in Dallas is not about the behavior of cops but rather a racial issue. 26 % of police victims are on blacks. That is predictable. In the Philippines it is not about race but rather economic situation. Of the recent spate in killings, more that a 100 in less than a week, victims of police against drug usage were poor and young. They were wearing rubber sandals instead of sneakers or rubber shoes. Many had body art or tatoos. They lived in economically depressed areas. Shabu has become a " poor man's cocaine." The foot soldiers consisting mainly of pushers are protected by the cops. In return lower authorities are protected by higher authorities. Some drug users / pushers end up as police ASSETS. A snitch in street language.

Filipinos are by nature law-abiding citizens, especially those of us living abroad, of course, with some very few exceptions. We don't have any significant run-ins with the law-enforcement community and, therefore, we don't get involved in any kind of demonstrations asking for rights and recognition as an ethnic group. We are, in general, satisfied with our lives and our business and in gratitude for the beneficial opportunity this country have offered us we even get involved in civic activities to lend a helping hand to others who need it. I like to invite all Americans to live and love each other and forgive one another when it hurts. All men are created equal. I hope that spirit continue to live in everyone's heart.

Aren't your headline stories about American cops rather hypocritical when democratically elected Philippine gov't has ordered Philippine cops to basically execute anyone "suspected" of dealing drugs? Sooo.....how about Philnews.com shove the imbecilic hypocritical headlines into a small corner of page one and offer an apology and promise to ensure your editor looks at his own country before throwing stones at any other country on earth, including Saudi Arabia and North Korea, which both follow the same level of jurisprudence and ethics of policing society.

Are you serious? Blaming the Officers. As a Police Officer this is just absurd. Have you ever rode with a Police Officer during a normal patrol? When I get a call of a crime in progress, the suspect's description is almost always 'young black male' Who do you want me to stop? I would be remiss in my duties if I don't stop someone who matches that description in the immediate are where I patrol, which for the most part is made up of African-Americans. I have stopped and arrested hundreds of people, mostly blacks. The few who are injured are due to them resisting. No one has the right to resist when they are under arrest and if they do, bad things can happen. Next time you are in trouble, please don't call the Police, because according to you, we are all arrogant. By the way, most Officers in my squad are veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and are very honorable individuals.

Much of the violence happening today is a result of dwindling privacy space. The overwhelming laws of the land are steep with invasive and heavy-handed intent to limit the free movement of citizens who, as a result, are fighting back to regain their loss of freedom by standing their ground. Used to be demonstrations are meant to be peaceful benign actions to exercise people's right to demand justice and equality whether in public or private areas of life. Today it is viewed as an affront to the law; law-enforcers are trained to subdue, cripple, maim, or even kill suspicious street protestors. Things have to change for the better. We cannot survive, (we, meaning everyone) if we stand against each other into two opposing camps with each side claiming to be right.

The the cops were killed by a black person against a white officer because of racial hatred. In more than 13 out of 50 killings, a black man would be killed in the United States because of racial hatred. Electing a black president in the United States did not solve the racial divide. To the whites, mostly among Republicans, Obama has done nothing good. Rescuing the economy after George Bush left (deep recession) was even not good enough. Leaving Iraq so less young soldiers would die was still not good enough. Police brutality is obvious. So, aggrieved parties resort to violence because guns are readily accessible to vent one's anger.

We need to be fair to all. Also to the Police which is anyway B/W. Here some details nowhere else published: Here is what pisses me off about the idiots in my country, USA...Alton Sterling, a convicted felon with an illegal concealed weapon is shot and killed by the police for resisting arrest and trying to reach for the weapon. He had 5 kids which he couldn't take care of because he was homeless, living in a shelter, and selling CD's that were unlicensed (illegal)...Among his criminal activities was "carnal knowledge of a juvenile" He had sex and impregnated a 14 year old girl, while he was 20 years old, served 5 years in prison... and the following: Simple battery (dismissed) (Nov. 24, 1996) Simple battery – dismissed (Oct. 28, 1997) Simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (May 5-15, 2005) request for arrest warrant Felony theft (May 5-15, 2005) request for arrest warrant Simple burglary (amended to illegal possession of stolen things – guilty plea) (May 24, 2005)Aggravated battery (amended to simple battery – guilty plea) (March 6, 2006)Simple criminal damage to property – guilty plea (March 6, 2006) Unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (amended to disturbing the peace – guilty plea) (March 6, 2006) Expired driver’s license (March 21, 2008)Driver’s license issue (hard to read document) (2008)Domestic abuse battery – pleaded guilty (March 31, 2008)Illegal carrying weapons with controlled dangerous substance – pleaded guilty (May 29, 2009)Felon in possession of a firearm – dismissed (May 29, 2009)Contempt of court – (Aug. 10, 2009) – Guilty plea Fail to use seat belt (Feb. 5, 2014) Fail to renew registration (Feb. 5, 2014) Failure to comply with sex offender registration (Aug. 11, 2015) – Forfeiture Possession of a schedule 1 drug, (April4-5, 2016) – no conclusion Possession of marijuana first offense. (April 5, 2016) – no conclusion NOW here is the part that irks me the most...SOMEONE SET UP A GOFUNDME (and other) ACCOUNT FOR HIS FAMILY and so-far they have raised over $600,000...I wonder how many people on the American welfare system have donated to this fund?

Re: Pres Duterte's appointment of VP Leni Robredo as HUDCC Sec. This is one of his best moves in his early days as President. The great thing about the VP is that she and her late husband are well known for Honesty in Government. If you have an honest person at the top , the lower echelon of government officials would follow their leader. It also means that the protest filed by Bongbong FM Jr. has a very little chance of succeeding.

The only thing good about this is that the lawyers representing complainants will have a windfall being paid in this case. However it won't be long before it is dismissed as a case without any legal basis and the accused would be both exonerated.

It is becoming clear that Congress with the lower house headed by a personal friend of Duterte, and PNP headed by another friend, and the solicitor general will never allow the spate of drug killings to subside. These people would like to replicate the Davao experience nationally of killing drug addicts who have harmed themselves first more than they could hurt others. Very early on, this administration has set the rule to "shot to kill for resisting arrest." A dishonest forensic evidence by SOCO will support that police legal defense. You see dead man tells no tales. Let us have an impartial inquiry if these addicts were killed justifiably or the police has gone trigger happy because SOLGEN will defend them.

Reaction to traffic situation in NCR: To ease the traffic situation in NCR two things are needed: (1) reduce the volume of vehicles on the road (2) build more roads and widen existing roadways. In 2010, NCR had 2.1 motor vehicles and a population of about 12 million, 900, 000 cars, 667, 000 taxis, 5, 000 inner city buses and 3.3 million motorcycles and tricycles. MMDA traffic enforcers man busy intersections instead of traffic lights, drivers and pedestrians ignore road and traffic signs; utility vehicle drivers load and unload passengers anywhere they like in the road (with the consent of course by traffic enforcers). More private vehicles are being added to the road because of liberal lending rates by the banks and cheap car insurance premium of 2, 000 pesos a year. In NY where I live I pay some 61,000 for a year in car insurance (more if I use street car parking instead of a garage) No emergency powers for the president to exercise but plain common sense which is uncommon to many chief executives.

President Duterte might be sincere to weed out addiction to " poor man's cocaine" or shabu but he also said it would be bloody. The question is: " why must it be bloody." Right now we have seen on TV footages of grieving families whose sons were killed but the position of their dead bodies doesn't seem to show that they resisted arrest and a subsequent shootout ensued. In the eagerness of government to carry out their mission , some victims get killed because of mistaken identity; gender and age was not an exception. This government is making us look ugly in the world by making us look like Mexico is South East Asia or Colombia before. Unlike Mexico we don't export illegal drugs . We serve as transshipment point with the head of the OCTOPUS genetically identified as Chinese operating distant from our shores. All makeshift labs for "meth" were set up by Chinese nationals in this country were meant mostly for local use. The government knows who were protecting the triad society. Now righteous politicians wanted to be the first to exposed their identities to make a big splash in the news and be a "hero" . This could have done a long time ago after passage of the Dangerous Drug Act of 1972. So Digong and Bato are the "true knights in their shining armors."

Mockingmaya cited the Federalist Papers of Hamilton, Madison and John Jay with out really knowing nor understanding what it really was. The papers in book form were really meant to influence the the campaign for the adoption of the Constitution of the United States in the State of New York. It consisted of 85 essays. It was the basic framework of how the government should operate. It also draws contrast between confederation and federalism. And the insufficiency of the former. Next time you make references on anything, explain.

I disagree with the comment made by someone that the" traffic problem is a symptom of the country's nature of a feudal society." It is to me the lack of forward planning and urban development of government more than the influence of the rich. Hacienda Luisita owners may be guilty of keeping the farmers in economic bondage . The Cojuangco's unlike the newer rich families did not leave any social and intellectual legacies for the country compared to the SYS or the AYALAs. It would be nice if this country had a little bit of the Rockrfellers, the Waltons, the Mellons, the Johnsons, the DuPonts, the Hersts etc.

Would you believe that he filed a Furlough request for Christmas, New year and a birthday, of course they were all denied.. because he is under detention if he is allowed to be out to celebrate occasions e.g. birthday it is as if he is not under detention. My only hope is that Pres. Duterte does not intervene in these cases of high profile politicians abusing their power. If they are convicted they should serve their sentences.. High government officials who are convicted are usually released in other words their punishment is just a slap on the wrist. My God. look at Erap his sentence was Reclusion Perpetua.. and GMA have him an absolute pardon.

CCHR should also address their concerns to would-be victims of this all-out campaign to eliminate or minimize the drug problems in the country. They should realize and admit that drug trafficking is also costing lives. What the President is doing is sending out a no-blows barred into these drug lords who try to enrich themselves to the point of destroying our country and its young people. Fair is fair. Let's go for more heart-stopping solutions against these destroyers of our ways of life.

The president might be sincere in his war on drugs but people who are supposed to serve as his "clean -up crew " are over doing things. There is no reason to whack drug users if they have not been involved in violent crimes. Using drugs is a non violent offence. Taking a man's life is. The president swears to uphold the constitution, respect for life, human rights and freedom. These extra judicial killings will haunt RRD after he leaves office. Ask the family of Marcos. It became a stain on the name of the family. It cost the family millions.

I don't understand the mentality of most Filipinos who welcome the spate of drug related killings. 400 + and counting in barely two months! It shows no respect for human rights and complete disregard for the value of life. Mere possession of shabu is not enough reason to extinguish a life. 200 grams possession of shabu is the threshold to inflict punishment. The reason is obvious: the intention to distribute or sell is high. People get killed on suspucion of being a user or pusher based on some unverifiable list from the barangay or PDEA. No search warrant or arrest warrant were ever issued . Resisting arrest was the convenient excuse used by the police to fire their service weapons or AR. No forensic nor ballistic evidence could support the killing as legal and not an execution which is illegal. There is too much blood in the hands of the enforcers. CUT THE SUPPLY OF DRUGS AND THE NUMBER OF USERS (demand ) WILL DECLINE. Shabu becomes too expensive to pick it up as a habit. Go after those Chinese nationals who bring shabu to our shores. None of them ever got killed. So, someone asked: who is protecting them from untimely death? Peter Lim saw Duterte face to face in Malacañang and Jaguar Lim is still alive. WHERE IS THE PROMISE?

Blustery is the word very appropriate to describe this administration. " The moment Peter Jaguar Kim sets off at NAIA, I will shoot him." "I will jet ski to Scarborough Shoal and plant the Philippine flag." Folks you all I know the ending.
